Paxman are delighted to be attending the MASCC/AFSOS/ISOO 2024 Annual Meeting, which takes place in Lille, France from 27th -29th June.
Each year, the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) combined with the International Society for Oral Oncology (ISOO), hosts a world-renowned international meeting on supportive care during cancer. Both multinational and interdisciplinary, professionals and trainees from a diverse range of oncology fields meet to engage and collaborate. This year, the annual meeting is held in collaboration with the French affiliate organisation, Association Francophone des Soins Oncologiques de Support (AFSOS) and the theme is to ‘Empower People Impacted by Cancer and Living with Toxicities’.
As part of our commitment to the dissemination of information and education around cryotherapy in side-effect management, Paxman is sponsoring an e-poster theatre which features presentations of important abstracts around chemotherapy-induced alopecia (CIA) and chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN). Paxman will be at E-Poster #2, Hall Lille, Floor 1, with abstracts shown at the following times:
In particular, Toni Brook will be presenting the results of the updated Dutch Scalp Cooling Registry on Friday 28th, from 08:30 - 10:30. A key study for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced alopecia, it uses real world data to show the effectiveness of scalp cooling on hair retention according to a wide range of chemotherapy drug regimens. It is the largest real-world, multicentre analysis of determinants for scalp cooling efficacy. It analyses over 7,000 patients in over 68 hospitals across the Netherlands and reports a 56% success rate in its methodology.
Corina van den Hurk, an author of this valuable study, will also be attending the conference.
Paxman are also looking forward to an oral presentation on the safety and efficacy of limb cryocompression to prevent CIPN by Dr Rachel SJ Wong. As Paxman develops and trials its PLCS with the aim of preventing CIPN, this presentation will be a key point in the conference for chemotherapy side effect management and will update the audience of the latest trial results.
Within the theatre, E-Poster #2 (Hall Lille, Floor 1), attendees can also discover abstracts relating to digital health, oncodermatology, neurological complications, mucositis, haemostasis/neutropenia, infection & myelosuppression, and education.
