Limb cryocompression for prevention of taxane-induced peripheral neuropathy: a phase II study, by Dr Rachel Wong, Singapore

Scheduled to take place during MASCC Parallel Session 6, this short talk by Dr Rachel Wong, Medical Oncology Consultant, National University Cancer Institute, Singapore, will present interim results from a single-arm Phase II study from patients receiving taxane-based chemotherapy. The data explores the safety and efficacy of a novel cryocompression device to help reduce chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy in addition to information on tolerability, rates of dose reduction and other ongoing trials with the device.
In addition, Dr Wong will be joined at the podium by Dr Aishwarya Bandla PhD, Clinical Innovation Manager, who will present on the study design and objectives of a Phase III, three-arm, multi-centre, randomised efficacy study initiated in 2023, supported by the National Cancer Institute in the USA. This randomised trial is expected to confirm Phase II findings from the Singapore Trial and provide extensive data from its sizeable cohort for rigorous data analysis, providing complementary evidence on the device’s efficacy, safety and clinical value in the prevention of chemotherapy‑induced peripheral neuropathy.

Clinicians will benefit from insights into a translational approach that bridges preclinical research and real‑world symptom management, while also examining the clinical relevance of cooling strategies increasingly used in supportive care.
