Heartfelt Donation of a Paxman System by Northumberland Freemasons

26 February 2025

On Valentine’s Day this year, we attended the unveiling of a new Paxman Scalp Cooling System at Queen Elizabeth Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust. However, there was something particularly special and heartfelt about the installation of this particular system.

The scalp cooling system was an exceptionally kind donation to the Trust from the Northumberland Freemasonry Network and featured a unique and very special plaque.  Brian Denton, a member of the freemasons in the region, wished to display the plaque in memory of his beloved wife, Patricia, who had chemotherapy at the Trust in Gateshead during her cancer diagnosis.

The plaque reads:

In loving memory of my darling wife,

Patricia Denton

Kindly donated by Northumberland Freemasons

Brian specifically chose Valentine’s Day for the unveiling as a touching demonstration of his deep and profound love for his late wife. The 26th February 2025 would have been his wife’s 70th birthday.

Patients undergoing chemotherapy at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead, will now be able to benefit from scalp cooling. As someone who was evidently cherished in life by those around her, the donation from the Freemasons allows Patricia’s memory to live on through her legacy.

We felt incredibly fortunate and honoured to be present at the unveiling and are extremely grateful to the Northumberland Freemasons for their generosity.
